Family Partnerships

We recognise and value parents as ‘the first educators’ and encourage participation in the life of our school. In responding to this challenge, Our Lady Help of Christians strives to develop authentic partnerships with parents. Authentic partnership between our school, families and community helps to support the catholic faith formation, learning and care of all students in our school.

Family- school partnerships are collaborative relationships and activities that involve staff, parents and other family members of the students in our school. Effective partnerships are based on mutual trust and respect, and shared responsibility for the education of children at our school. Partnership does not mean that everyone will contribute equally to the relationship. Partnership is about the enrichment that is gained when people work together for a common purpose. A special partnership is developed when parents and teachers combine in the education of the child.

At Our Lady Help of Christians we are building authentic partnerships through a range of activities and developing positive relationships between all members of our school community with the aim that all stakeholders feel respected, cared for and valued. We are doing this by:

  • Building parent involvement though clear communication between school and home
  • Encouraging and supporting parent engagement through connecting learning at home and school
  • Building parent participation and collaboration through school events, activities and community days.
  • Building partnership at the strategic level by consulting with parents through surveys, Parent Forum meetings and conversations in decision making.
